After playing Half-Life 2 mod Entropy: Zero 2, I've finally got complete closure on the fact that we'll never get Half-Life 2: Episode 3. The mod is inventive, surprising, and it's packed with My conclusion: Half-Life 2 plus Episodes 1 and 2 might be the best gaming combo of all time. The mythology is deep, far-reaching and engrossing; graphics have held well; face animation/voice acting are excellent and reach L.A. Noire-like levels most of the time. Half Life 2 takes place 20 years after Half Life, which takes place around 2009- 2012. Portal takes place ten years after GLaD0S kills everyone in Aperture with Neurotoxin, except Doug Rattmann and Chell, who Rattman saves (See Portal 2 Comic: Lab Rat. Portal takes place around 2009-2012 also.)In theory, Portal 2 ends anywhere between HL and Opposing Force I’d say isn’t as long as Half Life, but is decently long in and of itself. Blue Shift is probably the shortest Half Life game (debatable between it and Half Life 2: Episode 1), which is the weakest part of it imo. But I still reccomend it as it is a very enjoyable Half Lufe experiance. There’s a throwback scene in Half Life 2: Episode 2 that references a little-known accident at the original Black Mesa facility. Half Life is still impressing us after all these years. There’s a short scene in the sequel that references a hilarious moment in the original that you might have missed. The way Precursor was going to avoid that fate was by not making it more than just a roughly hour-long Half Life 2-based single-player adventure with very little new content besides the maps.
